Police Declared War Against Me After I Exposed Them —Ugwuonye
Controversial lawyer, Barrister Emeka Ugwuonye has revealed that the police declared war against him after he published an introduction to a documentary on the police.
Mr. Ugwuonye reveled this in a memo he made exclusively available to ElombahNews on Tuesday.
Narrating his ordeal at the hands of the police in Abuja, he said:
“The Abuja police command filed charges in 4 different magistrate courts in Abuja, hoping that I would be remanded or denied bail. They failed 4 times.
“There next move was to compound those same charges into la ten-count charge in an Abuja High Court.
“They arrested and detained me for 3 weeks without court order. They tactically chose to arraign me on the 14th, knowing that the court would go on vacation as from the 15th.
“They thus orchestrated a situation where I would be remanded till January for my bail application to be argued.”
Ugwuonye, it could be recalled, has been running a legal battle with the police, as well as some individuals, following the death of an Abuja lady, Charity Aiyedogbon a.k.a. Deepdeal Chacha De Hammer.
Find attached the summary analysis of the case the Abuja Police is making against Emeka Ugwuonye:
The Abuja police command filed charges in 4 different magistrate courts in Abuja, against Emeka Ugwuonye, hoping that he would be remanded in prison or denied bail. They failed 4 times.
Their next move was to compound those same charges into a ten-count charge in an Abuja High Court. They arrested and detained Emeka for 3 weeks without court order.
They tactically chose to arraign him on the 14th, knowing that the court would go on vacation as from the 15th.
They thus orchestrated a situation where Emeka would be remanded till January for his bail application to be argued.
Further, in a dramatic show of shame and frustration, the police decided to rope Emeka into murder and armed robbery charges along with the two men they accused of killing Chacha.
This move is absurd and the height of desperate. The police knew there was no basis to link Emeka to the crime. But the police has been bought with cash.
Because DPA accused Chacha’s husband of involvement in her fate, the man paid the Abuja command to counter accuse Emeka through a criminal charge.
The police have been bedevilled by corruption and in competence in this case from day one. They refused to look where they should look.
Chacha was receiving threats to her life weeks before she disappeared. But the police ignored to look into that. She made and received her last calls from known numbers.
But they refused to look into those calls. They did not even interview the people that installed her CCTV to know what Chacha told them.
Two months before her disappearance, Chacha began working as manager in a nightclub in Gwarimpa.
That may be the lounge from where she received the last call. But out of incompetence and corruption, the police seemed to have ignored all these important leads.
If the police could try to rope Emeka into this crime, it tells the world an important truth about Nigerian police.
Most of the people they charged with murder and armed robbery were probably innocent and the police knowingly charged them falsely.
But what about the thousands they must have killed after knowingly charging them falsely with serious offences?
What has been going on has been a naked effort to intimidate DPA so that DPA will be afraid in the future to criticize the police for authorities. But they will not succeed.
There are many Emekas in DPA. If you silence one, many more will step up to the plate.
See again in the screenshots above to see the state of Chacha’s investigation 3 weeks after she disappeared.
When the police failed, 5 weeks after she disappeared, her friends contacted DPA for help in finding what happened to Chacha.
Within 8 days of engagement, DPA solved the case 90%. But the police failed to follow up. They pursued shadows.
We believe that the two men charged with murdering Chacha were forced to confess through extreme torture.
Also, their confessions were not consistent with other facts that have been verified through DPA investigation.
The body we saw in pictures and concluded was Chacha’s could not have been killed as the boys confessed.
That person was not killed on Monday, May 9th, 2016 by an expressway and immediately cut up and dumped where it was found by the police 3 days after in the state it was found.
Such will be scientifically impossible. From the analysis of DPA legal experts, after reading the charge sheet in the case, the police will be on trial in this case.
